Dr Fai stresses Pakistan’s crucial role in Kashmir settlement
Islamabad: Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai, a prominent Kashmiri leader and Secretary General of US-based Kashmir Awareness Forum, reiterated Pakistan’s indispensable role in advocating for the rights of Kashmiris and resolving the Kashmir dispute.
According to Kashmir Media Service, speaking at a seminar organized by a journalist body in Islamabad, Dr. Fai emphasized the deep-rooted ties between Kashmiris and Pakistan, spanning religious, cultural and social domains.
During the seminar, Dr. Fai highlighted the international community’s recognition of Jammu and Kashmir as a disputed territory and its support for a peaceful resolution through dialogue between Pakistan and India. He underscored the rejection of India’s unilateral actions in August 2019, including the revocation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status, by major global powers, including the United States. Dr. Fai stressed that resolving the Kashmir conflict is imperative and inevitable.
Referring to his meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Dr. Fai said he emphasized that trade and other relations between Pakistan and India should be linked to the Kashmir settlement. He advocated for the inclusion of Kashmiri representatives in foreign delegations to effectively raise awareness about the Kashmir cause.
Additionally, Dr. Fai urged the Kashmiri diaspora to intensify their efforts in highlighting the plight of Kashmiris on the global stage, emphasizing that unity and consensus among Kashmiri ranks are essential to achieving their goals.
