NC leaders call out Modi’s empty promises in IIOJK
Srinagar: National Conference leaders and Members of Indian Parliament, Mian Altaf Ahmad and Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, have criticized Narendra Modi’s remarks, stating that the people in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir are weary of empty promises and rhetoric from Indian leaders.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in a statement issued in Srinagar, the NC leaders urged Modi to take concrete action to back his promises regarding assembly elections, statehood restoration, and development in IIOJK. “Let us see some action instead of just words. The people of Jammu and Kashmir deserve more than just lip service”, they maintained. They were referring to Modi’s comments made during his recent visit to IIOJK.
“Our people lament the lack of progress despite all the talk of humanity and democracy”, they said and highlighted the lack of significant progress over the past decade, despite the Modi regime’s so-called promises. With over 14 lakh educated individuals unemployed, issuing some orders in this respect is insufficient, they said, adding, “It’s time for action, not just more empty promises, they said.
The NC leaders also criticized the IIOJK administration’s recent actions, saying they never miss a chance to hassle the Kashmiri people and employees. “Just two days before Yoga Day, everyone was on edge as government employees and school children were rounded up at various locations, with orders to show up in the dead of night”, they said. Expressing dismay over the videos of employees being forced to walk barefoot at an event for the Indian PM, they added, “This blatant mistreatment of employees is a clear indication of the current administration’s attitude. It’s a disgraceful display of disrespect and violation of their fundamental rights.”
