NC leader Agha Ruhullah raises concerns over Kashmiri detainees’ plight
Srinagar: National Conference leader and Indian parliament member Agha Syed Ruhullah Mehdi has urged the BJP-led Indian government to immediately address the dire situation of the Kashmiri prisoners held outside the territory.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Agha Ruhullah highlighted the critical issues faced by the Kashmiri detainees, particularly from the Valley, in a letter addressed to India’s Home Minister Amit Shah.
He expressed particular concern for young individuals detained without trial, arguing that it is unfair on part of the Indian government to hold these people at an age that is crucial for their personal and professional development. He called on the Modi government to expedite their release.
The NC MP also raised humanitarian concerns, noting the significant difference in weather conditions between the occupied Valley and India, and suggested relocating Kashmiri prisoners to facilities within the Valley.
Ruhullah Mehdi stressed that the current situation imposes physical and financial burdens on families who struggle to visit their loved ones incarcerated far from homes. He appealed for immediate action to address both the legal and humanitarian aspects of the detainees’ situation, urging the Home Minister to take prompt measures to alleviate their plight.
