BJP member booked for blasphemous remarks in Kolkata

Kolkata: Amidst rising concerns over growing intolerance in India, a BJP member has been booked for making inflammatory and blasphemous remarks against Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), sparking outrage and calls for action against hate speech.

According to Kashmir Media Service, lawyer Noor Mahvish has lodged an FIR against the BJP member, Nazia Khan, stating that she in a media interview made inflammatory remarks against the Prophet (PBUH) and the holy city of Madinah.

Stating that her remarks could incite communal violence and deepen religious tensions in India, Mahvish highlighted a pattern of behavior in Khan’s social media posts, which consistently exhibit a hateful stance toward the Muslim community.

Mahvish described Khan’s statements as “deeply offensive and inaccurate,” emphasizing that such generalizations promote harmful stereotypes.

The FIR outlines that Khan’s comments were made with the intent to incite hatred between different religious communities, particularly targeting Muslims. This is not the first time that the BJP member has made such provocative statements, with a pattern of behavior evident in her social media posts.

The FIR also references a tweet by Khan on August 3, where she targeted Muslim women, suggesting they are treated as objects and that Muslim men only focus on having more children. Mahvish noted that such remarks misrepresent the Muslim community and disrespect the diverse experiences within it.
