Hindutva activists protest after Muslim woman purchases house in UP
Bareilly: Fanatic Hindus associated with Hindutva ideology in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, staged protest against a Muslim woman, Shabnam, who recently bought a house in the area.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the protesters, from the Punjabpura neighborhood in the BJP-ruled state, expressed their discontent through noisy demonstrations and posters threatening to migrate from the area. They also raised slogans against Vishal Saxena, the seller of the house, for his decision to sell to a Muslim.
Nasim Bashiri, Shabnam’s brother, explained that they purchased the house from Saxena, with whom they have a prior acquaintance. Saxena had expressed his intention to sell and relocate, which was known to the residents.
Bashiri expressed hurt and surprise at the protest, stating that they would not have bought the house if they had known about the objections. He emphasized the area’s history of communal harmony and offered to accede to the demands of the Hindu residents to maintain peace.
Arvind Srivastav, a Hindu resident and former president of the Bareilly Bar Association, expressed his objections to a Muslim purchasing a house in the area.
