Dialysis patients protest in Srinagar against Delhi’s decision to close centers

Srinagar: Dialysis patients in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir staged a protest in Srinagar, condemning New Delhi’s decision to close dialysis centres in Srinagar leaving the patients to die a painful death.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the decision, effective August 31, will leave hundreds of patients without access to life-saving treatment.

Patients and their families gathered to express their outrage and concern, holding placards and chanting slogans against the decision. They said the Modi government is neglecting the healthcare needs of the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

“We are not just patients, we are victims of the authorities’ apathy,” said Muhammad Rafiq, a protester. “How can they just stop funding for our treatment? Do they know how many lives are at stake?”

The protesters demanded that the authorities reverse its decision and continue funding for private dialysis centres, highlighting the limited infrastructure and capacity of government hospitals to handle the large number of patients.

“This decision is a death sentence for us,” said Abdul Rahim, another protester. “We urge the authorities to reconsider and save our lives.”
