BJP women activists protest party’s discrimination in Jammu
Jammu: Following a protest against “parachute” candidates – outsiders imposed by the party leadership – for the sham upcoming assembly elections in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, women activists of the Bharatiya Janata Party staged a massive protest in front of the party office in Jammu, alleging discrimination in ticket distribution.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the protest drew women from various areas of the Jammu region, including Dudo Basantgarh, Doda, and Ram Nagar. Participants shouted slogans against the party’s decision to field only one woman candidate out of 42.
The women activists criticized the party’s claims of championing women’s causes, citing their own discrimination in the ticket distribution process. The protest highlighted growing frustration among party activists.
The protesters emphasized that they were not merely expressing anger but demanding their rights and an end to discrimination against women within the party.
