Seminar, photo exhibition organized in Muzaffarabad to mark Pakistan’s Defence Day
Muzaffarabad: A seminar and photo exhibition was organized in Muzaffarabad on the occasion of Defence Day of Pakistan under the auspices of the Kashmir Women Alert Forum (KWAF).
According to Kashmir Media Service, the seminar was presided over by KWAF Chairperson Samia Sajid Raja while Alyas Awan, the father of Lt Colonel Asif Ali Awan Shaheed, was the special guest.
Other guest speakers included Professor Dr Abdul Karim from Government Gurhi College for Boys and Associate Professor Dr Rehana Kausar from the Botany Department of the University.
The seminar focused on the theme, “Defence of Pakistan: Integral to the Faith of Kashmiris.” Female students expressed their deep love and devotion for the armed forces by organizing a photo exhibition.
Senior Hurriyat leader Mushtaq-ul-Islam, PTI leader and councillor Shabana Sadaqat Khokhar, PML-N Women’s Wing President Maryam Kashmiri, PTI leader Laiba Kausar, Al-Muqaddas Foundation President Shazia Awan, Senior Vice President of Muslim Conference Women’s Wing for Muzaffarabad District Syeda Maqsoom Kazmi, Advocate Maryam Awan, PML-N leader Saira Chishti, Haroon Azad, Dr Farzana Farah, Zahra Mir, and a large number of students participated in the event.
Chairperson of KWAF Samia Sajid Raja in her speech said that Sept 6 reminds us of the great sacrifices of the armed forces, which are unmatched in history. September 6 is a day that commemorates Pakistan’s unbreakable bond with Kashmir, a day when Pakistan responded to Indian aggression in Kashmir, she added.
She said though India attacked from multiple fronts, under the cover of darkness, it launched the largest tank attack of the century. However, she said, our brave soldiers, filled with the spirit of sacrifice, laid down their lives by strapping grenades to their chests and halting the enemy tanks.
She said General Asim Munir’s clear stance on Kashmir has boosted the morale of the Kashmiri people on both sides of the Line of Control.
The speakers, including Aylas Khan Awan, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Rehana Kausar, and Abdul Karim Khan, said this day is an unforgettable day in world history from a military perspective. “Our courageous forces defeated the Indian army, which was far larger and better equipped. Today, India is engaging in digital terrorism to conspire against our army and weaken us, but on Pakistan’s Defence Day, we renew our resolve to stand like a rock with our armed forces to thwart every enemy conspiracy,” they maintained.
They said a strong and stable Pakistan is the guarantor of Kashmir’s freedom. The people of Kashmir stand behind the Pakistan Army, they said adding on this day, we pledge to defeat every conspiracy against Pakistan and make this country a place of progress, prosperity, and peace.
At the end of the event, KWAF Chairperson Samiya Sajid Raja paid heartfelt tribute to the sacrifices of Lt Colonel Asif Ali Awan Shaheed and presented a shield in his name to his father, Elias Awan.
A prayer session was also held for the martyrs of the armed forces.
