Imam Jamia Masjid Delhi expresses concern over plight of Muslims in India
New Delhi: The Imam of the historic Jamia Masjid in New Delhi, Syed Ahmed Bukhari, has expressed deep anguish over the worsening condition of Muslims in India.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Syed Ahmed Bukhari broke down during his Friday sermon while talking about the plight of Muslims in India, urging Narendra Modi to take action. “Prime Minister Modi, enough is enough. You must act from the position you sit in, deliver justice, and stop those who are ruining the atmosphere of the country,” he said.
He further appealed to Muslim youth to remain patient, urging the government to seriously reconsider the ongoing surveys of mosques and religious sites in places like Ajmer and Sambhal. “These things are not good for India. I say this with a heavy heart, ‘Moments have erred, and centuries have paid the price.’ How long will this continue?” he questioned.
It is pertinent to mention that in Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh, police opened fire on peaceful Muslim protesters during a survey of a Mughal-era mosque, resulting in the killing of four Muslim youth. The controversial survey, ordered by a local court, has sparked widespread protests. Additionally, Hindu extremists have made claims regarding the Dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti in Ajmer, alleging that it was built on the site of a former temple.
