Protest held in Jammu demanding restoration of IIOJK statehood, land and job rights
Jammu: A protest demonstration was held in Jammu today, demanding the restoration of statehood for Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and land and job rights for local Kashmiri people.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the protest was led by senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Jayesh Gupta, accompanied by supporters and party workers carrying placards advocating for the restoration of statehood, the Darbar Move, and exclusive land and job rights for locals.
Addressing the gathering, Jayesh Gupta blamed the BJP for downgrading IIOJK to a Union Territory and halting the age-old Darbar Move practice. “The Darbar Move was a symbol of integration between Jammu and Kashmir regions, and the BJP has acted as a villain by ending this tradition and taking away special rights granted by Maharaja Hari Singh,” he said.
The protesters emphasized the need to restore the special status for land and job rights under local reservation laws.
