India enforces stringent restrictions ahead of republic day celebrations in IIOJK
Srinagar: As Republic Day approaches, India has rolled out an intensified restriction plan to ensure the smooth conduct of celebrations on January 26 in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, India’s Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone, V. K. Birdi, has ordered the implementation of stringent restrictions and intensified area domination to maintain order and prevent any disruptions.
In a high-level meeting with senior officials, IGP Birdi emphasized the need for heightened vigilance, particularly in sensitive areas. The comprehensive security strategy includes additional checkpoints, increased patrolling, and strict monitoring of public spaces.
“All officers must enforce robust restrictions to ensure a peaceful atmosphere. Strict action will be taken against individuals attempting to disturb the peace,” IGP Birdi stated.
Birdi also highlighted the risks of social media misuse to incite violence, warning that violators would face severe legal consequences.
The meeting, attended by senior police, CRPF, BSF, and intelligence officers, reviewed plans for crowd control, traffic management, and strategic deployment of security forces. Authorities are focused on ensuring public safety while facilitating the smooth execution of Republic Day events.
The Traffic Wing has been tasked with creating a detailed traffic plan to ensure minimal disruptions and safe travel for both public and protected individuals.
The review also covered security measures on highways, railway tracks, and stations, with a focus on maintaining tight surveillance in these key areas.
Senior officers from the civil administration and various security agencies are working in coordination to ensure the successful execution of the Republic Day arrangements in IIOJK.
