‘BJP-RSS aligned Indian media spreads disinformation on Kashmir and Pakistan’

Islamabad: The Indian media has come under increasing scrutiny for its close alignment with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its ideological parent, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
According to Kashmir Media Service, critics argue that Indian media outlets have increasingly become mouthpieces for the BJP-RSS regime, spreading biased narratives, disinformation, and fake news, particularly when it comes to Pakistan and the Kashmir dispute. Indian media outlets are systematically distorting facts, creating false narratives, and portraying Pakistan as an enemy. Experts say that Indian media coverage of the Kashmir dispute often reflects a travesty of professional journalism, where the truth is manipulated, and the voices of Kashmiris are drowned out. These media outlets focus on portraying Kashmir as an internal matter of India, ignoring the international dimensions of the dispute.
Critics argue that the Indian media’s coverage is directly aligned with the policies of the Modi-led government, which has been accused of undermining democratic norms in India, promoting authoritarianism, and fueling communal tensions. Indian journalists and television anchors are increasingly seen parroting the government’s official narrative, often blurring the line between objective reporting and propaganda. Many prominent media personalities have been accused of acting as conduits for the BJP’s Hindutva agenda, serving as mouthpieces for the regime rather than independent reporters.
The alignment between the Indian media and the RSS’s right-wing ideology has been widely acknowledged. Many outlets, particularly those with close ties to the RSS, are seen as promoting the ideology of Hindutva, which seeks to establish Hindu supremacy and marginalize religious minorities, especially Muslims.
Moreover, Indian media’s role in spreading hate and inciting violence has been widely condemned. The media is accused of glorifying Modi’s fascist policies and war-mongering rhetoric, creating an environment where hate speech, Islamophobia, and anti-Pakistan sentiments thrive. This toxic media environment fuels not only domestic unrest but also contributes to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.
As India continues to use its media, cyber technology, and even terrorism as hybrid tools to further its political agenda in Kashmir and against Pakistan, experts warn that the unchecked power of the Indian media, aligned with the RSS and BJP’s policies, poses a significant threat to regional peace, stability, and the pursuit of justice for the people of Kashmir.
