Hindutva men caught faking cow slaughter to incite anti-Muslim violence in UP

New Delhi: In an attempt to incite anti-Muslim violence under the guise of cow vigilantism, two Hindu men were caught in the Uttar Pradesh city of Ghaziabad for faking cow slaughter.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Yogesh Chaudhry and Shivam were found with pieces of meat in Lohia Nagar, intending to target their business rivals and create communal tension during the Hindu festival of Holi. The Ghaziabad police confirmed the incident, stating that Chaudhry and Shivam staged a fake cow slaughter to falsely implicate their rivals.

“The police got a tip-off related to cow slaughter at a cowshed in Lohia Nagar which falls under the Sahni police station. Prima facie, we got to know that pieces of meat were thrown there after bringing it from somewhere else. They had planned to implicate someone else,” a police officer told media persons. However, police deliberately avoided the communal aspect.

When the police conducted a thorough investigation, it was found that there were two adjacent cowsheds in the area. There was some personal rivalry between those overseeing the cowsheds. One cowshed owner bought six kg of meat and threw it at the other cowshed to implicate their owners. “It was all staged to implicate an innocent person and cause religious tension ahead of the Holi festival,” said the officer.

The development came to light days after a Hindutva leader was arrested for staging a paid protest to implicate an innocent person in the false case of cow slaughter in Saharanpur.

Members of a Hindutva outfit, Hindu Yodha Parivar Sangathan, created a ruckus over the fake case of cow slaughter. It emerged that Chaudhry Vish Singh Kamboj, a prominent leader of the Hindu organisation, staged a paid protest to implicate one of his rivals in the case.

Last year in February, a similar incident was reported from Moradabad where Bajrang Dal men slaughtered a cow to implicate a Muslim man in a false case.
