Diaspora protest in London slams minority persecution in India, revocation of Article 370

London: South Asian diaspora groups staged a protest in London against the persecution of minorities in India, targeting of Bengali Muslims, and the revocation of Article 370 in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, dozens of activists from the South Asia Solidarity Group and other diaspora organisations gathered at Gordon Square, London, chanting slogans and singing poems and songs of resistance.
In a statement, the organizers said, “Despite being Indian citizens, Bengali Muslims are facing detention, torture, home demolitions and even deportation to Bangladesh. Bengali-speaking communities have effectively been criminalised simply for their identity.”
The demonstrators voiced solidarity not only with Indian Muslims, Dalits, and Christians, but also with the people of Gaza, while strongly condemning the Modi regime’s Hindutva-driven policies, including attacks on minorities, the revocation of Article 370 in Kashmir, efforts to replace India’s constitution with the Brahmanical Manusmriti, and the demolition of Muslim and Dalit homes with bulldozers. They also denounced the persecution of Bengali Muslims.
The event was also a moment for joint solidarity, with participants calling for a Free Palestine.
“Let this gathering be a reminder: our histories are intertwined, our oppressions connected, and so must our struggles be, we must never allow chauvinism to triumph over humanity,” the South Asia Solidarity Group declared.
