Missing Indian student found dead in US, consulate confirms

Washington: A 22-year-old Indian postgraduate student, Saketh Sreenivasaiah, has been found dead in the US, days after going missing.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Saketh, a student at the University of California, Berkeley, was last seen on February 9 and his body was recovered on Saturday, confirmed the Indian Consulate in San Francisco.

The Consulate expressed deep regret over the incident and offered condolences to Saketh’s family.

Saketh, from Karnataka, was pursuing a Master of Science degree in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at UC Berkeley. His backpack, containing his passport and laptop, was found on a doorstep in the Park Hills neighborhood, sparking a search operation.

The rise of the Modi regime in India has been linked to an increase in hate crimes against Indians, particularly in the US. This is largely attributed to the spread of Hindutva ideology, which promotes Hindu supremacy and has been criticized for fueling anti-Muslim and anti-Christian violence.

Reports indicate that Hindu nationalist groups in the US have also been spreading hate and misinformation, targeting Muslims, Sikhs, and other minority groups. The Indian American Muslim Council (IAMC) and Hindus for Human Rights (HfHR) have raised concerns about the growing influence of Hindutva ideology in the US, citing instances of hate crimes and vandalism against Hindu temples and communities.

The Modi regime’s policies have been criticized for emboldening Hindu extremists and contributing to a hostile environment for minorities. As a result, Indians, especially those from minority communities, are facing increased hate and violence in the West, particularly in the US.
