India’s Independence Day fosters fear in IIOJK

Srinagar: Indian forces have intensified vehicle checks and random frisking of passengers and pedestrians, causing immense discomfort to the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Indian forces continue to conduct cordon and search operations, house raids, frisking, and vehicle checks, as well as random frisking of passengers and pedestrians in Srinagar city, the Jammu-Srinagar highway, and other parts of the territory. These measures, taken in the name of security ahead of India’s Independence Day on August 15, have added to the fear in the territory.

A multi-layer security arrangement, including ground and aerial surveillance, has been put in place across IIOJK, particularly in Srinagar, Islamabad, Kishtwar, Doda, and the Jammu-Srinagar highway. Paramilitary troops, bunkers, and barricades have been deployed to fortify these areas.

Indian troops and police have alreadhy arrested scores of youths during house raids and search operations. The New Delhi-controlled BJP regime, as part of its efforts to Indianize IIOJK, has ordered all residents to hoist the Indian flag at their homes on August 15.

Reports indicate that Indian intelligence agencies are closely monitoring Hurriyat activities and media personnel who do not align with the BJP government’s stance in the occupied territory.

Meanwhile, Indian troops and paramilitary personnel continue to conduct cordon and search operations in various parts of Islamabad, Kishtwar, Udhampur, and Doda districts.
