Kashmiris defy Indian attempt to create division, celebrate Milad with Pakistan
Srinaga: Despite India’s attempt to create confusion over the date of Eid Milad-un-Nabi in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Kashmiris have come together to celebrate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) along with their brethren in Pakistan.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the Indian government deliberately avoided issuing a clear order regarding the holiday on the Prophet’s birth anniversary, thereby misleading people into commemorating it on Monday, as per India’s calendar, a day before the actual birthday, which falls on Tuesday.
Government employees were left in limbo, unsure whether to attend work or not, as the General Administrative Department (GAD) remained silent on the matter. “We had to rely on the J&K Bank calendar to determine if it was a holiday,” said Ghulam Jeelani, a government employee. Schools across the valley also faced similar confusion, with some opening and others remaining closed.
However, in a show of unity, Kashmiris rejected the Indian government’s attempt to create division and celebrated Eid Milad-un-Nabi with Pakistan, reaffirming their commitment to their faith and heritage.
Thousands thronged the revered Hazratbal shrine in Srinagar for night-long prayers, while others attended congregations and sermons across the territory. The shrine was decorated with fluorescent lights, flags, and buntings, and devotees were given a glimpse of the holy relic of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) after pre-dawn prayers.
The celebrations reinforced the message of peace, love, and empathy, promoting harmony within the Muslim community and fostering a better understanding of Islam’s core values.
