India deploys commando unit of NSG in Jammu amid rising armed resistance
Jammu: India has deployed a permanent commando unit of the National Security Guard (NSG), also known as Black Cats, in Jammu, occupied Jammu and Kashmir, in view of growing armed resistance in the region.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the deployment of NSG has been made to ensure quicker responses to emergencies, eliminating previous delays in the deployment from Delhi or Chandigarh.
With rising armed resistance in areas like Kathua and Poonch, the NSG will support Indian army and police in Jammu region. The NSG will also serve as backup to frontline units, such as the Special Operations Group (SOG) and paramilitary forces.
While the exact size of the unit remains undisclosed, authorities claim that the personnel are fully equipped to handle a variety of threats.
