Srinagar: India is increasingly being criticized as a fascist state under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rule, with widespread allegations of religious discrimination, authoritarian governance and suppression of dissent.
A report released by Kashmir Media Service said, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), backed by the extremist Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), is facing condemnation for its Hindutva-driven policies that marginalize Muslims, Christians and Dalits while eroding India’s secular foundations.
As per report, India under Modi is systematically using strong-arm tactics to oppress Muslims in India and Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The BJP’s actions, such as the misuse of investigative agencies to intimidate critics, silencing of opposition voices, and the forced implementation of Hindutva ideology, have sparked accusations of fostering a hostile environment for minorities.
The KMS report highlights that Hindutva groups linked to the BJP are now targeting mosques across India, with police recently killing five Muslim protestors in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, during demonstrations against a mosque survey.
The report also underscores the BJP’s August 5, 2019, actions in IIOJK, which aimed to strip the territory of its special status and alter its Muslim-majority demographic, as evidence of the regime’s fascist agenda. Modi’s push to transform India into a “Hindu Rashtra” poses a significant threat to South Asian peace and stability, KMS warns.
Activists and global organizations are calling for international recognition of India’s descent into fascism, urging the world to confront the Hindutva-driven policies that jeopardize human rights and regional harmony. The international community’s intervention is seen as vital in countering the Modi regime’s authoritarian trajectory.
