BJP govt stalling Lok Sabha to avoid debate on Adani issue: Priyanka Gandhi

New Delhi: Congress leader and MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has said that the Bharatiya Janata Party government is deliberately stalling proceedings in the Lok Sabha to avoid discussions on the Adani issue, claiming it is a calculated strategy to deflect scrutiny.

According to Kashmir Media Service, speaking to reporters in New Delhi after the House was adjourned for the day, Priyanka Gandhi said, “Either the government does not want to run the House or they are not capable of running it. As soon as we sit, they create disruptions to adjourn the House. This appears to be a deliberate strategy to avoid debate.”

The Congress general secretary alleged that the government fears open discussions on the Adani issue. “They know that if a debate happens, the truth will come out. The Prime Minister hasn’t even attended Parliament,” she noted.

Priyanka Gandhi emphasized the need for transparency, especially given allegations made in the United States about Adani. “It has been reported in the US that Adani paid massive bribes to increase electricity costs and rake in profits. This is a serious issue that affects ordinary people, and Parliament must address it,” she added.

The Congress party, meanwhile, reiterated its demand for a full debate on the Adani allegations, vowing to continue its protest until the matter is addressed.
