Muslim migrants protest in Jammu, demand immediate relief to sustain life
Jammu: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Muslim migrants staged a strong protest demonstration outside the office of the Relief Commissioner in Jammu on Tuesday, demanding the immediate release of relief and essential rations for 1,251 affected families.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the protesters, who were displaced from Kashmir in the 1990s said the authorities were neglecting the families, leaving them to face extreme hardship. Holding placards and raising slogans, they condemned the withholding of relief as a grave injustice.
“For over a year now, we have been left to fend for ourselves with no financial aid or rations. Families are on the brink of starvation,” said one of the protesters. “Despite repeated assurances from officials, including the Lieutenant Governor, no concrete action has been taken to address our plight.”
The affected families, who have been deprived of essential supplies since September 2023, said they are struggling to survive without any source of income or resources. The protesters appealed to the government to adopt a compassionate approach and take immediate steps to resolve their issues.
“At the very least, the ration supply must be ensured so we can sustain ourselves,” another protester pleaded.
The protesters urged the administration to prioritize their demands and release the long-pending relief to alleviate their suffering. They warned of intensifying their agitation if their concerns continue to be ignored.
