Seminar revives painful memories of Kunan Poshpora victims
Islamabad: All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir chapter organized a seminar in Islamabad regarding the Kunan Poshpora incident, which was chaired by senior Hurriyat leader Muhammad Farooq Rahmani.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the speakers addressing the seminar said the entire humanity is ashamed of the Kunan Poshpora gang rape incident. They said this shameful and gruesome incident is a stain on the face of the so-called big democracy of India.
The speakers said despite 34 years, the victims of the Kunan Poshpora incident are deprived of justice while the Indian soldiers involved in this heinous crime are still roaming free.
They said the bitter memories of the Kunan Poshpora gang rape are still fresh in the minds of the Kashmiri people. They said the immunity given by India to its soldiers under black laws is the root cause of tragedies like Kunan Poshpora. They said this incident is a clear example of the oppression and tyranny of Indian soldiers in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The speakers said India is using the rape of women in the occupied territory as a weapon of war. “There are immortal sacrifices of Kashmiri mothers, sisters and daughters in the Kashmir freedom movement, we pay tribute to them and assure them that we will not let their sacrifices go in vain,” they added.
