Rawalakot: A seminar was organized by Center for Development and Stability in Rawalakot, Azad Jammu and Kashmir in which the importance of the Pakistan Accession Resolution on July 19, 1947 was highlighted.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the seminar was addressed by Center for Development and Stability Director General Dr Irfan Ashraf, Sardar Qamar Rashid, Ishtiaq Jabali, Sardar Ijaz, Sardar Azam Gul, Raja Saleem, Sardar Ikram Munsif, Sardar Zahid Advocate Qublai, Munir Ahmed Qadri, Sardar Riaz Djabouti, Advocate Shaukat, Sardar Zahoor and others.
The speakers termed the Resolution of July 19, 1947 as a milestone in the history of Jammu and Kashmir and said that Ghazi-e-Millat Sardar Ibrahim and his companions decided on the bright future of Jammu and Kashmir on July 19, 1947.
They said Kashmir is a part of Pakistan in religious, geographical and political terms, adding Pakistan is the only safe future for the 77 percent Muslim majority territory. They said that the era of Maharaja Gulab Singh and Hari Singh in the state of Jammu and Kashmir was a story of oppression.
The speakers said from 1832 to 1837, the brave tribes of Poonch raised their voice against the oppression of the Dogra rulers. They said the struggle and sacrifices of Sardar Sabz Ali Khan, Milli Khan and Shams Khan are a golden chapter in the history of the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
They said that in 1846, the British sold the state of Jammu and Kashmir to Gulab Singh for 75 lakhs Nanak Shahi. In 1924, they added, the Kashmiri people once again raised their voice against the Maharaja’s excessive taxes, restrictions and limitations on tribes and other serious violations of human rights and as a result of which the properties of the then leadership were confiscated.
They said some leaders were exiled from the state and the workers who were part of the movement were dismissed from their jobs.
Then, during the partition of the subcontinent, they said, Maharaja Hari Singh, with the connivance of the British government, tried to join India against the will of the Kashmiri people, which was thwarted by Ghazi-e-Millat Sardar Ibrahim and his associates.
The speakers said to thwart Hari Singh’s ambitions, Ghazi-e-Millat Sardar Ibrahim and his associates showed foresight and passed the Pakistan Accession Resolution on July 19, 1947 but contrary to the wishes of the people, the Maharaja wrote a letter of accession to India, which was rejected by the Kashmiri people.
The center of the Kashmiris’ struggle for freedom is the complete integration of the territory with Pakistan, for which the Kashmiri people will not hesitate to make any sacrifice. KMS-18A
