Youm-e-Takbeer — Symbol of Pakistan’s strength and national pride

Islamabad : Pakistanis across the country are observing Youm-e-Takbeer today to commemorate the historic nuclear tests conducted by Pakistan on May 28, 1998.

According to Kashmir Media Service, by successfully conducting nuclear tests in Chagai, Balochistan, Pakistan emerged as the first nuclear power in the Muslim world and the seventh globally. Pakistan became the first nuclear power of the Muslim Ummah and seventh in the world. The tests, conducted in self-defence to respond to India’s nuclear explosions and aggressive designs, made Pakistan’s defence strong and invincible.

The day is observed as a symbol of national unity, strength and determination, reaffirming the nation’s unwavering resolve to safeguard Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence against all forms of aggression.

Pakistan has consistently maintained that its nuclear capability is meant solely for self-defence and the preservation of peace and strategic balance in South Asia. Since becoming a nuclear power, Pakistan has demonstrated utmost restraint and responsibility while ensuring national security.

Pakistan also continues to contribute to international efforts aimed at promoting arms control, non-proliferation and nuclear safety, while adhering to global standards on export controls and nuclear security.

The country is making peaceful use of nuclear technology in various sectors, including energy, agriculture, industry, medicine and environment, to support national development and economic growth.

On the occasion, the nation paid rich tribute to the scientists, engineers and technicians whose dedication and efforts strengthened Pakistan’s defence and elevated its stature among the nations of the world.
