APHC-AJK holds seminar to pay homage to Maqbool Butt, Afzal Guru


Islamabad: All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter organized a seminar in Islamabad to pay tributes to renowned Kashmiri liberation leaders Shaheed Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Shaheed Muhammad Afzal Guru on their anniversaries.

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC-AJK chapter Convener Mahmood Ahmed Saghar chaired the seminar.

India executed Muhammad Afzal Gaur on February 9, 2013 and Muhammad Maqbool Butt on February 11, 1984 in the infamous Tihar Jail in New Delhi for playing a prominent role in the freedom movement. Their bodies were buried in the premises of the prison.

The speakers addressing on the occasion said India can never suppress the freedom spirit of Kashmiris with executions, illegal detentions and other cruel tactics in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. They also reiterated their determination to fulfill the mission of martyrs at any cost.

The speakers said the martyrs are the real heroes of Kashmiris and the great asset of the freedom movement. They said the hanging of Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru is a murder of justice and a slap on the face of the Indian judiciary and its entire justice system. They urged the international community and international human rights organizations to put pressure on India to hand over the bodies of Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru to the Kashmiris.

The speakers said the best way to pay homage to the Kashmiri martyrs is to remain steadfast and resolutely stick to the path for which they have sacrificed. They said that thanks to the sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs due to which the Kashmir dispute is echoing in every forum of the world, these sacrifices will never be allowed to go waste.

They urged India to read the writing on the wall and give Kashmiris their birthright to self-determination. They also called upon the righteous people and organizations of the world to compel India to hand over the bodies of Maqbool Butt and Afzal Guru to their families for proper burial.

In the seminar, sympathy and solidarity were expressed with the family of deceased Hurriyat activist, Ghulam Muhammad Butt alia Insha Allah Khan, Belonging to Tral area of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Muhammad Farooq Rahmani, Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, Syed Yusuf Naseem, Muhammad Hussain Khateeb, Mir Tahir Masood, Sheikh Abdul Mateen, Imtiaz Wani, Altaf Hussain Wani, Dawood Yousafzai, Haji Sultan Butt, Advocate Parvez Ahmed, Sheikh Abdul Majid, Gulshan Ahmed, Manzoor Ahmed Dar, Zahid Safi, Abdul Majeed. Lone, Zahid Ashraf, Syed Mushtaq, Muhammad Shafi Dar, Mian Muzaffar, Shaukat Hussain Butt, Muhammad Ashraf Dar, Nazir Ahmed Karnai, Afsar Khan, Attaullah and others participated in the seminar.

Chairman Pasban-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir observed the martyrdom anniversary of Maqbool Butt, hailing him as a revolutionary leader who sacrificed his life for Kashmiri independence. The statement emphasized Butt’s exemplary struggle for freedom under Indian imperialism and reiterated Kashmiri resolve to continue the fight against India’s illegal occupation.
