Tribute paid to late Prof. Shawl at condolence meeting in Islamabad
Islamabad: A Quran recitation and condolence meeting were held today in Islamabad to pay tribute to the late leader of the Kashmir freedom movement, Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl.
The condolence meeting was attended by a large number of political and social activists, in addition to Kashmiris living in twin cities. Prayers for the forgiveness of Professor Shawl were offered during the session. Professor Shawl, who passed away recently at the age of 77 in London, dedicated his entire life to the Kashmir freedom movement. He tirelessly worked on political and diplomatic fronts throughout his life for the attainment of the inalienable right to self-determination for the people of Kashmir.
The participants expressed profound grief over the demise of Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl and termed his death an irreparable loss for the Kashmir freedom movement. The condolence meeting was attended by Mahmood Ahmed Saghar, Mohammad Farooq Rehmani, Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, Syed Yousuf Naqash, Mohammad Hussain Khateeb, Mir Tahir Masood, Sheikh Abdul Mateen, Imtiaz Wani, Altaf Hussain Wani, Dawood Yusufzai, Haji Sultan Butt, Advocate Pervez Ahmed, Sheikh Abdul Majid, Gulshan Ahmed, Manzoor Ahmed Dar, Zahid Safi, Abdul Majid Lone, Zahid Ashraf, Syed Mushtaq, Mohammad Shafi Dar, Mian Mazhar, Shaukat Hussain Butt, Mohammad Ashraf Dar, Manzoorul Haq Butt, Imtiaz Mir, Mohammad Saeed Baig, Syed Ejaz Rehmani, Sheikh Mohammad Yaqoob, Adeel Mushtaq Wani, Nazir Ahmed Karnai, Afsar Khan and Ataullah.
The meeting concluded with prayers for the departed soul of Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl and reiterated the commitment to continue the struggle for the rights of the people of Kashmir.
