Many Gujjars injured in clashes with police during eviction & demolition drive in Samba
Jammu: Several members of Muslim Gujjar community as well Indian policemen were injured in clashes during forcible eviction of community members from their lands and properties and demolition of their houses in the name of an anti-encroachment drive in Samba district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the occupation authorizes have grabbed at least 20 acres of land near Balol Nullah in Bari Brahmana area of the district, so far, a senior police officer confirmed to the media.
Samba SSP Vinay Sharma said the joint drive by the police and the administration was launched on Monday evening to, what he said, retrieve the land.
At least 40 houses belonging to the Muslim Gujjar community were demolished during the drive, which triggered violent clashes between police and the displaced people.
The police claimed that they were attacked by stones and sharp-edged weapons. The police resorted to teargas and baton charge on the dwellers.
It is worth mentioning here that India under Hindutva government led by Bharatiya Janata Party is robbing Kashmiri people of their lands and properties on one pretext or another as part of a larger conspiracy to effect a demographic change in the Muslim majority Jammu and Kashmir.
