Tarigami calls for unity to counter BJP’s machinations in IIOJK
Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, senior Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has called for putting up a joint fight to counter the machinations of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) against the people of the territory.
According to Kashmir Media Service, addressing a public rally at Reban Zainpora village of Shopian district, Tarigami said that there was a need to maximize the efforts on every level so that the Kashmiri people’s identity and other constitutional rights could be restored.
Denouncing the arbitrary arrests of youth in IIOJK, the CPI (M) leader revealed that he himself had borne the brunt of the draconian laws like Public Safety ACT (PSA) and UAPA.
He said that the adverse reports furnished by different Indian agencies against the people had made their lives rather miserable. “Once they have such reports against them, people find it impossible to get employment”, he said.
He also criticized the Modi-led Indian regime for exploiting the water resources of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Launching a tirade on the New Delhi-installed IIOJK administration for allowing the apple imports, he said that the hopes of the Kashmiri farmers were tied up with the apple economy. He reiterated his demand for implementing the crop insurance schemes. “In the absence of such schemes, farmers are left to bear the brunt of unpredictable weather conditions”, he said.
He appealed to the leaders spanning the entire political spectrum to stay away from lowering the discourse too low, adding that the political leaders should uphold the dignity.
