Roadblock in Nowgam as residents protest against authorities
Srinagar: In Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, a protest was held in Nowgam Sonawari, Bandipora district, against Indian authorities’ failure to address a 15-day water shortage.
According to Kashmir Media Service, locals, including men and women, gathered at Junction Mahala Nowgam, blocking the Singapore-Sumbal road and disrupting traffic.
The protesters expressed frustration over the authorities’ inaction and reliance on inadequate and unsafe water tankers, forcing them to rely on nearby streams. They demanded immediate resolution of their grievances.
Women gathered at Junction Mohalla Nowgam, blocking the Sumbal-Singhpora road, and sang a song typically sung at Kashmiri weddings, but with lyrics highlighting their plight. “Ha Khudayoo, Treishe Dadeh Iseh Hai Gaye Zayoo; Daad Bozuh Souni Khudayoo, Treishe Dadeh Iseh Hai Gaye Zayoo” (“Oh God! Our life is a waste without water; Listen to us oh God! Our life is a waste without water”).
