Handwara protesters demand end to water shortage

Srinagar: People took to the streets in the Handwara area of Kupwara district in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir to protest against the apathy of the Modi-led Indian regime towards their daily needs.

According to Kashmir Media Service, residents of Zargar Mohalla and Iqbal Colony in Main Town Handwara staged the protest, expressing their frustration with the authorities’ failure to restore drinking water supply to their areas for the past several days.

The residents have been struggling without access to drinking water for a week, with some even lacking water for basic needs like bathing and cleaning. “We are suffering immensely due to the lack of drinking water,” said a local resident. “The concerned department has been informed, but no action has been taken to resolve the issue.”

An official from the relevant department acknowledged the problem, attributing it to a technical snag in the main service line. The residents are eagerly awaiting a resolution to the crisis, hoping that the department will fulfill its promise and restore their access to clean drinking water soon.
