APHC stresses need for greater unity to effectively pursue freedom cause
Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has emphasized the need for greater unity among Kashmiris to effectively pursue their rightful demand for a plebiscite to ascertain the political future of Jammu and Kashmir .
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas issued a statement in Srinagar, terming the Kashmir dispute a political and human problem. He noted that the freedom-loving people of Kashmir have made unprecedented sacrifices for the sacred mission of justice and freedom from Indian subjugation since 1947.
Minhas stated that India is misleading the world about the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, as it cannot retain its illegal occupation through military might and state terrorism forever. He emphasized that Kashmir is an internationally recognized dispute between Pakistan and India, which needs to be resolved according to the aspirations of the Jammu and Kashmir people.
The statement highlighted that in the changing global geopolitical situation, war is not an option, and all disputes should be resolved through diplomacy and dialogue to allow peace to prevail. Minhas urged Pakistan and India to live in peace and tranquility as good neighbors, but this requires settling their conflicts, particularly the Kashmir dispute, which has been a historical baggage since 1947.
He stressed that the so-called elections in IIOJK will not affect the disputed nature of Jammu and Kashmir, as stated in UN Security Council resolutions. Granting voting rights to non-Kashmiris in IIOJK by the Indian government will only complicate the situation. Therefore, initiating a dialogue process between Pakistan and India is essential to settle all disputes, including the core issue of Jammu and Kashmir.
Minhas said India is using various tactics to deny Kashmiris their rights and recently attempting to usurp their rights by giving voting rights to non-state subjects. He alleged that the Hindutva BJP Indian government aims to change the demography of IIOJK through such actions, violating international laws and its own constitution.
He assured that Kashmiris will not allow Indian nefarious designs to succeed and will continue their freedom struggle until complete success. Minhas appealed to India and Pakistan to start a meaningful dialogue process to resolve the Kashmir dispute according to UN resolutions and the will of the Kashmiri people.
