Daily wager’s family protests with dead body in Samba

Jammu: Relatives of a daily wager who died due to harassment by higher officials staged a protest with his dead body in the middle of the road at Arji in Samba district of Jammu region, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the family refused to perform the last rites of the body until their demands for justice were met. Bachan Dass, a resident of Araji Samba, died at a hospital after being constantly harassed by senior officials of the Jal Shakti Department, which withheld his salary and forced him to work despite his illness.

The family said that his condition worsened due to lack of treatment, which could have been afforded if his salary had been paid on time. The protest, which blocked the Samba Sumb Matador Stand Chowk, drew attention to the cruelty and apathy of the Department towards its employees.

The family members and relatives demanded action against the guilty officials and compensation for their loss.
