Muslim youth beaten to death by Hindu mob on train in Uttar Pradesh
Lucknow: A violent Hindu mob killed a Muslim youth and injured two others aboard a train in BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh state of India.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the tragic incident occurred on the Begumpura Express, traveling from Jammu to Varanasi. The deceased was identified as 24-year-old Tauheed, and his brothers Talib and Tauseef were also injured in the attack.
The altercation began over a dispute regarding train seats when a Hindu mob gathered around Tauheed and attacked him with a knife and iron rod, resulting in his death.
The attackers carried out the brutal assault without fear of intervention, as neither railway police nor staff took any action. This negligence by railway authorities has drawn widespread condemnation.
Tauheed’s family is devastated by the loss. His father, Mohammad Ansar, tearfully said, “I cannot believe that my son, full of life, has been taken from us in such a cruel way. His only fault was being in the wrong place at the wrong time.” His mother sobbed, “We’ve lost a son, a brother, and a future. The railway authorities have failed us at every turn.”
Samajwadi Party leader Amir Hussain, who visited the family, condemned the violence, stating, “This act is unacceptable. The perpetrators must be held accountable, and the railway administration must be held responsible for its negligence.”
The National Commission for Human Rights (NHRC) has taken cognizance of the case and called for an inquiry into the incident, highlighting the failure of both police and railway authorities. NHRC spokesperson Raghav Malhotra said, “Such violence cannot go unpunished. The state must ensure the safety and dignity of every citizen, especially when traveling on public transport.”
The incident has sparked widespread public outrage, with many social media users expressing anger over the lack of accountability. Some passengers are calling for a boycott of the Begumpura Express until adequate security measures are implemented. A concerned passenger, Rina Sharma, said, “The safety of passengers must be the railway administration’s priority. We need better monitoring of trains to prevent incidents like this.”
