Peshawar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter organized a protest demonstration at the Agriculture University in Peshawar today to observe Indian Republic Day as Black Day.

According to Kashmir Media Service, besides APHC-AJK leaders, various student unions also participated in the protest demonstration.

The protesters carried black flags, banners and placards on which slogans were written against India and in favour of the freedom of Kashmir from Indian occupation.

The protest demonstration was led by Hurriyat leader Imtiaz Wani and was attended by Samiullah Khan, Syed Zahak Jan, Izharuddin, Tanveer Durrani Nadeem Khan, Sajid Mir, Iqra Mir, Quratul Ain, Naseema Bibi, Rabab Khalid and others.

On the occasion, the speakers said democracy is the name of respect for public opinion but India has never respected public opinion. They said India has no right to celebrate its Republic Day in occupied Jammu and Kashmir because it has occupied Jammu and Kashmir against the will of the Kashmiri people.

They also expressed their concern that India was trying to change the demography of the occupied territory by accommodating non-Kashmiris there. and urged the international community to put pressure on India to resolve the Kashmir dispute.

Imtiaz Wani on the occasion expressed concern over the increasing Indian state terrorism in the occupied territory and said India is using brutal tactics to suppress the freedom struggle of the Kashmiris but it has failed miserably in its nefarious intentions.

He said Kashmiris are sacrificing their lives for a noble cause and they will continue their struggle until the goal is achieved.

An anti-India rally was also held at the end of the protest.
