BJP fueling growing drug crisis in IIOJK: Meraj Malik
Srinagar: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Doda Meraj Malik has said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is fueling the growing drug crisis in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Meraj Malik speaking during the budget session of the Kashmir Assembly, said the BJP government has worsened the drug problem by prioritizing revenue through the expansion of liquor shops, ignoring the health and future of the people.
He added that serious measures were needed to safeguard the youth of occupied Jammu Kashmir, starting with a complete ban on alcohol and stricter action against drug trafficking.
During the session, he urged the Speaker to impose an immediate ban on alcohol and implement tough policies against drugs. He also criticized the Lieutenant Governor- led administration, claiming that liquor contracts became more common during his tenure.
Alongside raising concerns about the drug problem, Meraj Malik demanded an increase in the salaries of MLAs to Rs 3 lakh per month, arguing that elected representatives work hard for the public and deserve fair compensation.
He called upon the authorities to regularize temporary employees and raise the wages of daily wage workers.
