Indian army chief’s contradictory statement reflects mental confusion and panic
Islamabad: In the wake of India’s disastrous failure in the Marka-i-Haq conflict and its subsequent international humiliation, both India’s political and military leadership appear to be grappling with mental confusion and panic.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the recent contradictory statement made by Indian army chief General Upendra Dwivedi serves as a clear reflection of this mental disarray and confusion. The military’s operational failures, combined with the collapse of the so-called “Atmanirbhar Bharat” (Self-reliant India) initiative, have exposed deep weaknesses in India’s defense structure. The political pressure exerted by the Hindutva ideology of the Modi government has left the military leadership scrambling to project strength, resulting in absurd, cinematic claims about shooting down seven aircraft every three months and destroying terrorist hideouts.
General Dwivedi’s latest statement, riddled with contradictions, only further complicates the situation. On one hand, he claims that India used certain weapons to force Pakistan to kneel, yet on the other hand, he admits that such a victory would require the purchase of additional weapons. This stark contradiction is a testament to the confusion, ignorance, and unpreparedness within the Indian military leadership. The same army chief, who previously trumpeted the false victory of Operation Sindoor, now seems desperate to cover his embarrassment while diverting attention from the internal chaos within India’s military command.
In a recent speech at a defense conference in New Delhi, General Dwivedi’s threatening yet weak rhetoric laid bare his anxiety. He claimed that Operation Sindoor was merely a “trailer,” suggesting that the “film” has not even begun. However, in the same breath, he acknowledged India’s defense vulnerabilities, admitting that the country does not have sufficient military equipment for a prolonged conflict and urgently needs to prepare for it.
This admission underscores the Indian military’s lack of professionalism, the incompetence of its political leadership, and the failure of its defense planning. It also highlights the fact that India’s military leadership is suffering from a state of mental disarray on all fronts: policy, strategy, and preparedness.
