Islamabad: A delegation from the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter, led by Convener Ghulam Mohammad Safi, met with former AJK Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan at his office in Islamabad today.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the delegation provided a comprehensive briefing to the former AJK PM on the deteriorating situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The delegation highlighted the ongoing human rights violations and the immense hardships faced by the Kashmiri people under Indian occupation. They urged Tanveer Ilyas to continue his efforts on both national and international fronts to resolve the Kashmir dispute and ensure the implementation of United Nations resolutions.
The Hurriyat delegation also praised Sardar Tanveer Ilyas for his invaluable contributions to the Kashmir cause and his continuous efforts for the welfare of Kashmiri refugees. They invited him to attend a protest demonstration in Kotli, Azad Kashmir, on December 10, 2025, and also extended invitation for him to visit the APHC-AJK offices in Islamabad and Muzaffarabad.
In response, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas expressed his deep commitment, saying, “Kashmir flows in my veins.” He reassured the delegation that he would continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Hurriyat Conference in the pursuit of Kashmir’s freedom cause. Ilyas paid tribute to the courage and sacrifices of the Kashmiri people and reaffirmed his determination to leave no stone unturned in the struggle for Kashmir’s freedom from Indian occupation.
Meanwhile, a delegation from the United Kashmir Journalists Association (UKJA) also met the Hurriyat leadership at the APHC-AJK office in Islamabad. The UKJA delegation included President Dr. Ashraf Wani, General Secretary Naeemul Asad, and other members. APHC-AJK leadership present at the meeting included Convener Ghulam Mohammad Safi, General Secretary Advocate Parvez Ahmad, Secretary Information Mushtaq Ahmad Butt, and other members.
During the meeting, the Hurriyat leadership warmly welcomed the UKJA delegation and praised their efforts in raising awareness about the Kashmir cause in a responsible and impactful way. The leadership emphasized the importance of a close partnership between the APHC-AJK and the UKJA, recognizing the critical role of journalists as key stakeholders in the movement for Kashmir’s freedom.
The UKJA delegation briefed the Hurriyat leadership on the current media landscape, emphasizing the need for strengthened relationships with both national and international media outlets. They proposed that the APHC-AJK should establish a robust media wing to better communicate the Kashmir cause.
In his remarks, Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi thanked the UKJA delegation for their support and reiterated that while the APHC is primarily a forum, its core objective is to strengthen the Kashmir freedom movement and amplify its message on the global stage. He highlighted the APHC’s ongoing efforts to educate the public about the true situation in Kashmir, through university visits, college outreach, and public engagements.
Safi emphasized that the APHC seeks a comprehensive, lasting solution to the Kashmir dispute, rejecting piecemeal or short-term approaches. He stressed the APHC’s stance on the need for trilateral talks, arguing that bilateral negotiations have failed to yield results. Safi further clarified that the APHC would not accept mediation from any country closely aligned with India, and only a neutral party could be considered as a credible mediator. He concluded, “We do not seek development packages; what we seek is the fundamental the right to self-determination for the Kashmir people.”
