Big rallies, grand public gathering held in AJK on Kashmir Solidarity Day

Muzaffarabad: A series of rallies, walks and a massive public gathering were held in Muzaffarabad, the capital of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of AJK, to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day and reaffirm unwavering solidarity with the oppressed people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the city was adorned with the flags of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir, while banners and posters highlighting Indian atrocities and grave human rights violations in occupied Kashmir were displayed at major roads, chowks and entry points. These visuals conveyed strong messages of support for the Kashmiri people’s just struggle for the right to self-determination.

Like the rest of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir, Kashmir Solidarity Day was observed with full fervour in Muzaffarabad and other parts of AJK. Various events, rallies and public gatherings were organised, reflecting the collective resolve of the people to stand shoulder to shoulder with Kashmiris facing Indian oppression.

A major Kashmir Solidarity Rally was organised under the auspices of Pasban-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, in which people from different walks of life participated. During the rally, a human chain was formed to symbolise unity with the people of occupied Kashmir. Participants raised slogans in favour of Kashmir’s freedom and against Indian occupation, filling the city with a strong spirit of resistance and solidarity.

These activities demonstrated the deep-rooted bond between Pakistan, Azad Kashmir and the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The presence of political leadership, civil society members and representatives of various organisations added special significance to the day.

A historic, peaceful and well-organised rally and grand public meeting were jointly organised by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Muhajireen Representative Forum and Kashmir Liberation Cell at Muzaffarabad. Thousands of Kashmiri refugees, political and social activists, civil society members, women and students participated to express unwavering solidarity with the oppressed people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The public meeting began with recitation from the Holy Quran, Naat, the national anthem and Kashmiri songs, creating a strong spiritual, national and resistance-oriented atmosphere. Renowned cricketer and national hero Shahid Khan Afridi attended the event as a special guest and received a warm welcome from the participants. In his address, he said standing with Kashmiris on Kashmir Solidarity Day was his moral and national duty, adding that the Kashmir freedom struggle was not merely political but a principled and generational struggle rooted in sacrifice.

Leaders and representatives of various political parties and organisations, including Pakistan Muslim League-N, Pakistan Peoples Party, Muslim Conference, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Jamaat-e-Islami, also participated. Director Kashmir Liberation Cell Dr Raja Sajjad, Chairman Muhajireen Representative Forum Ghulam Hassan Butt, religious scholars, social activists and representatives of educational institutions were also present, reflecting the broad-based national character of the gathering. APHC General Secretary Advocate Parvez Ahmad Shah performed duties as stage secretary and coordinator, welcoming participants and appreciating their discipline and commitment.

APHC Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi said that Kashmir Solidarity Day had become a national day of Pakistan and its voice was now being heard at international forums, including the OIC. He reiterated that Pakistan would never compromise on the Kashmir cause and that Kashmiri refugees were Pakistan’s moral and national responsibility.

Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Deputy Ameer Liaquat Baloch, former APHC Convener Mahmood Ahmed Sagar and other leaders also addressed the gathering, announcing full and continued support for the Kashmir freedom struggle.

A resolution presented by the Kashmir Liberation Cell was unanimously adopted, declaring Jammu and Kashmir an internationally recognised dispute and demanding its resolution through the UN-mandated right to self-determination.

After the meeting, a peaceful rally was taken out in which women, refugees and youth participated in large numbers. The events concluded with a renewed pledge to continue moral, political and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri people until the achievement of their legitimate rights.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif addressed the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, while senior Pakistani military leadership also visited Muzaffarabad to express solidarity with the Kashmiri people. KMS-17K
