Culture of predation grips IAF as Air Marshal faces rape allegations

New Delhi: A culture of predation prevails in the Indian Air Force as an Air Marshal faces rape allegations, exposing systemic misogyny and institutional cover-ups.
According to Kashmir Media Service, granting pre-arrest bail to an officer accused of such a grave crime sends a clear message that protecting a senior officer’s reputation is more important than justice for a female subordinate.
The victim’s struggle to have her case heard by Police in Budgam, IIIOJK, highlights that internal IAF inquiry committees are designed to bury complaints, not resolve them. The case is not isolated but a recurring pattern where senior officers treat social gatherings as hunting grounds, confident the chain of command will shield them.
The IAF’s foundations are rocked by systemic misogyny that allows seniors to weaponize rank to facilitate assault and use institutional pressure to silence survivors.
For women in IAF, the cockpit and mess hall have become high-risk zones where the greatest threat is a higher-ranking officer as real accountability remains a myth as long as military jurisdiction delays civilian police investigations.
