Naqshbandi concerned about continued detention of Kashmiri political prisoners
Islamabad: All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir leader Syed Faiz Naqshbandi has expressed serious concern over the continued detention of Kashmiri political prisoners in various Indian jails under draconian Public Safety Act PSA, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and other inhuman laws.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi in a statement issued in Islamabad said Kashmiri leaders and activists are being subjected to political victimization and denied their fundamental rights.
He lamented that detainees were being kept in harsh and inhuman conditions without proper sanitation, safe drinking water, adequate food, and necessary medical care, which is a clear violation of international human rights laws.
He said the denial of these basic facilities amounts to a violation of human dignity and humanitarian principles. He also expressed concern over the difficulties faced by families and legal representatives in meeting the prisoners.
Syed Faiz Naqshbandi urged the United Nations Secretary General, the international community, UN human rights institutions, and global humanitarian organizations to intervene and press Indi for the immediate and unconditional release of all Kashmiri political detainees and provide basic human rights as per the international law.
