MMU, Karwan-e-Khatm-e-Nabuwwat organise conference on ‘Unity and Social Reform’ in Shopian

Srinagar: A one-day conference on “Unity of the Ummah and Social Reform” was held at the Jamia Masjid in Jamanagri in Shopian district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the conference was held under the joint auspices of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU), Jammu and Kashmir, and Karwan-e-Khatm-e-Nabuwwat.

The event saw the participation of renowned scholars, eminent jurists, intellectuals and a large gathering of people from Jammu and Kashmir. However, the head of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulema, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, could not attend the conference due to the recent death of a family member.

Prominent scholars and intellectuals who addressed the conference on the relevant topic included Maulana Muhammad Rahmatullah Mir Al-Qasimi, Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam Farooqi, Agha Syed Mujtaba Abbas Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi, Dr Sameer Ahmad Shafi Siddiqi, Mufti Ejaz-ul-Hasan Bande, Dr Abdul Rahman War, Maulana Ghulam Hassan Fazili, Maulana Mushtaq Mohiuddin, Maulana Mansoor-ul-Haq Hashmi, Abdul Rashid, Shahid Saleem, Mufti Ghulam Rasool Samoon and Moulana M S Rehman Shams.

The conference was presided over by Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam Farooqi, led and organized by Mufti Mudassir Qadri. Moulana M S Rehma Shams served as the host.

The speakers emphasised the need to hold such meetings and conferences in every district of the territory in light of the current societal situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

The speakers unanimously expressed their commitment to continue to united struggle against all these serious threats and negative factors under the leadership of Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir.

They praised Mirwaiz’s efforts to campaign against these serious social challenges being faced by the nation. They also urged the heads of all religious, and social organisations, including NGOs and Imams and scholars, to contribute at their respective levels to resolve the problems facing society.

In conclusion Moulana M S Rehman Shams, in the absence of Mirwaiz e Kashmir, conveyed his message to the participants of the conference and the people of district Shopian. He said, as a community, the severe challenges and difficulties we face today demand that we firmly follow the teachings of Quran and Sunnah and firmly stand together under the banner of unity and thwart the malicious intentions of disruptive elements.

Mufti Mudassir Qadri, the organiser of the conference, thanked all the invited scholars and attendees for making the conference a success.
