‘I am in jail because I seek solution to Kashmir dispute’, Engineer Rashid

Srinagar: Awami Ittehad Party Supremo Engineer Abdul Rashid has said that his commitment to resolving the Kashmir dispute is the reason for his imprisonment.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Engineer Abdul Rashid returned to Tihar Jail after his interim bail expired.

Earlier, in a media interview, Rashid vehemently denied claims that his release was orchestrated to sway votes, emphasizing, “We will live for our people. We will die for our people.” He underscored his focus on resolving Jammu and Kashmir’s pressing issues, including Article 370, 35A, political prisoners, and the Kashmir dispute itself.

He reaffirmed his dedication to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, saying, “Their words are like the sky being blown away… We will live for our people. We will die for our people.”

Rashid also addressed accusations that his involvement in recent elections divided votes, pointing out that his party, AIP, achieved significant vote share despite limited time and resources. He highlighted his commitment to public welfare, citing meetings with local officials to address pressing concerns.

In a message to his supporters, Rashid urged, “Don’t worry, I am loyal to the people of J&K. I will fight for my rights, whether I am in Tihar or outside Tihar. The truth is with us… Be strong, we will fight and win.”
