NC condemns surge of petitions for mosque and shrine surveys across India
Srinagar: The National Conference (NC) has strongly condemned the increasing number of petitions filed across India demanding surveys of mosques and Muslim shrines.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in a press statement, the party’s provincial President for Kashmir, Showkat Mir, has expressed deep concern over this rising trend, warning that such actions could disturb the country’s peaceful atmosphere.
Showkat Mir said that the recent petition calling for a survey at the revered Khawaja Moin Ud Din Chisti (RA) shrine in Ajmer Sharief has offended millions of people who hold the shrine in high regard.
“The shrine of Khawaja Moinuddin Chisti is a symbol of unity and diversity, visited annually by millions of pilgrims from all over the world, irrespective of their religion or nationality. Such actions are an attempt to create division and discord,” Mir added.
Mir also criticized the demolition of historic mosques and structures by Hindutva groups, describing it as a deliberate effort to undermine communal harmony in the country.
