India systematically crippling Kashmiris for life, says APHC-AJK
Islamabad: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter has said that India is using systematic violence and torture as weapons to cripple the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir for life.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in a statement issued on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, APHC-AJK Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi, along with leaders Mahmood Ahmed Saghar, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Parvez Ahmed Shah and Mushtaq Ahmed Butt, expressed solidarity with Kashmiris suffering from India’s inhumane tactics.
The Hurriyat leaders highlighted that Indian forces, in their bid to suppress the Kashmiri freedom struggle, are employing brutal methods that leave many permanently disabled. They cited instances of torture during raids, where detainees—especially youth—are subjected to electric shocks, burns, nail removal, and suspension upside down in interrogation centers.
The leaders condemned the use of lethal pellet guns against peaceful protesters, which have blinded countless Kashmiris demanding their right to self-determination. They lamented that despite global condemnation and concerns expressed by international human rights organizations, Indian state terrorism in the occupied region continues unabated.
The APHC-AJK leaders called on human rights organizations, the United Nations, and global powers to exert pressure on India to halt its atrocities and fulfill its commitment to granting Kashmiris their right to self-determination as per international resolutions.
They urged the international community to take immediate action to address the human rights violations in the region, emphasizing the dire need to protect the fundamental rights and dignity of the Kashmiri people.
