Jagmohan Singh Raina, Satish Mahaldar call for removal of ban on AAC

Srinagar: All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) Chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina has called for removal of ban on the Mirwaiz Umar Farooq-led Awami Action Committee (AAC), stating it is a religious organization.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Raina highlighted the role of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and his late father in social reforms, emphasizing that they always spoke about brotherhood and unity.
He noted that Kashmir cannot afford further divisions among its communities and organizations. “We can’t separate every group in Kashmir; we have to walk together,” he added.
J&K Peace Forum leader Satish Mahaldar in a statement also criticised the ban and called for its review. “We call upon India to urgently review this decision and refrain from creating barriers in Mirwaiz’s crucial work for the betterment of Kashmiri people,”Mahaldar said.
He added that Miwaiz is a highly respected religious and political leader, holding the revered title of the Mirwaiz of Kashmir, which has been passed down through generations in his family.
