Former Ameer of IIOJK Jamaat-e-Islami Sheikh Ghulam Hassan passes away
APHC-AJK and Hurriyat organizations express condolences

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), former Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, Sheikh Ghulam Hassan, has passed away after a prolonged illness.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Sheikh Ghulam Hassan hailed from Traigam in Kulgam district and had served twice as the Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami in IIOJK. He was a widely respected figure, and news of his passing was mourned across local media networks, with community members and religious figures offering prayers for his eternal peace.
Meanwhile, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter’s Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi, along with senior leaders Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Mahmood Ahmad Saghar, Shamim Shawl, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi and Altaf Ahmad Butt expressed deep grief and sorrow over his demise. They prayed for eternal peace for the departed soul and patience for the bereaved family.
They described the deceased as a pious, God-fearing and principled individual who devoted his entire life to the service of Islam and the betterment of society.
They said that despite facing the most difficult circumstances, oppression and pressure, Sheikh Ghulam Hassan consistently always raised his voice for truth and justice and remained steadfast in his commitment to the Kashmir freedom movement.
The APHC-AJK leaders said that with his passing, Kashmir has lost a great leader and a selfless religious figure.
Additionally, the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party and Jammu and Kashmir National Front, in their separate statements in Srinagar, expressed profound grief and sorrow over the demise of Shaikh Ghulam Hassan, terming his death an irreparable loss to the people of Kashmir.
They highlighted his contributions in social, political and intellectual spheres, saying he devoted his entire life to the welfare of the people and the Kashmir cause.
Describing him as a man of wisdom, honesty and integrity, they said his lifelong struggle, principled politics and exemplary character would continue to inspire future generations. They added that Shaikh Ghulam Hassan stood firm against Indian oppression and consistently raised his voice for the rights and aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
