Islamabad: After Babri Masjid, Hindutva hordes are hell bent upon demolishing several other mosques in India.
An analytical report released by Kashmir Media Service, today, said the stage has been set by the Modi regime in connivance with the Indian judiciary to convert historical Gyanvapi Mosque into Hindu temple in Varanasi city. It said the RSS-backed Modi regime has marked thousands of mosques for demolition and to build temples in their place in India.
The report said the Indian Muslims worry that several prominent mosques will meet the fate of Babri Masjid under BJP rule. It pointed out that emboldened by the 2019 verdict in the Babri Masjid case, the Hindutva lawyers are regularly filing suits challenging the legality of centuries-old mosques. It said from Babri Masjid to Gyanvapi, India’s courts have held Hindutva claims on mosques.
The report said the Historical Shahi Masjid located in Allahabad city of Uttar Pradesh state was demolished by authorities on 15 Jan, 2024, on the pretext of widening a road. It said the groups affiliated with the Sangh Parivar are on a drive to wipe the entire India of any trace of Muslim presence. It added that the anti-Muslim narrative is spreading in India due to a dedicated effort of Modi’s BJP government.
The report deplored that the religious sites of Muslims are being vandalized by Hindutva forces with impunity in India during Modi’s tenure. Even Muslim names of institutions, places and highways are being rechristened to Hindu names, it said, adding that shrinking spaces for Muslims in India have exposed the true face of the world’s so-called largest democracy.
