Non-Gazetted Police Pensioners Welfare Forum stages protest in Jammu
Jammu: The Non-Gazetted Police Pensioners Welfare Forum held a protest demonstration in Jammu city of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir to draw attention to their long-pending demands,
According to Kashmir Media Service, the protesters, comprising retired police personnel, raised several key issues, including pay anomaly resolution, with benefits retroactive to 1996 when the 5th Pay Commission was implemented, medical facilities on par with Indian paramilitary forces, 10 percent reservation in professional college admissions and recruitments for children of police personnel and timely salaries for Special Police Officers (SPOs).
The protesters also highlighted the case of retired Havaldar Ranjit Singh, who suffered severe injuries, including the loss of his legs and sight, while on duty in 1980. Despite suffering all this, he has received no compensation.
The forum has urged the authorities to address these grievances and ensure that retired police personnel receive the recognition and benefits they deserve for their service.
