APHC-AJK pays tributes to Poonch martyrs on their anniversary

Islamabad: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi has paid tributes to the martyrs of the Sialan Poonch massacre on their 26th martyrdom anniversary.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the personnel of Rashtriya Rifles of Indian Army martyred 19 family members of Shaheed Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh, known as Major Gul, in Sialan area of Sarnakot in Poonch district on the night of 3rd and 4th August 1998. The martyrs included men, women and children of the families of Lassa Sheikh, Ahmed Din Sheikh and Hasan Muhammad.

The APHC-AJK Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi in a statement in Islamabad, today, paying tributes to the martyrs of Sialan, said that the families of the martyrs were still waiting for justice even after a long period of 26 years.

He said a case was registered against the killers of the Indian Army after people’s strong protest but the criminals have not been punished till date and are roaming freely. He said the great sacrifices of the martyrs will never go waste and the Kashmiris will definitely get freedom from Indian illegal occupation.

The APHC convener, while condemning the Indian Hindutva BJP government’s August 5, 2019 illegal move, said the 5th August will be marked as Black Day and Youm-e-Istehsaal-e-Kashmir on the call of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference.

He appealed to the international community to play an effective role and stop Indian state terrorism in the occupied territory.
