Bradford seminar urges Kashmiris’ right to self-determination, calls for end to HR abuses in IIOJK

London: Speakers at a seminar on Kashmir held in Bradford, UK, called for granting the Kashmiri people their right to self-determination and demanded an end to human rights violations in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Self-Determination Movement International, the seminar featured notable addresses from Judith Cummins, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons, Barrister Imran Hussain, the newly elected Chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Kashmir, MP Kate Dierdone, Pakistani Consul General Zahid Hamid Jatoi, officials from the Jammu and Kashmir Self-Determination Movement International, and others.

The speakers emphasized their commitment to raising the Kashmir issue vigorously with the British government and Parliament. They expressed confidence that the new Labour government would honor the wishes of the Kashmiri people and encourage both India and Pakistan to work towards resolving the Kashmir dispute.

The seminar highlighted the effective advocacy by the Kashmiri diaspora in the UK, who are actively presenting the case for Jammu and Kashmir to British political parties, MPs, and human rights organizations. The speakers affirmed their determination to continue this advocacy until the people of Jammu and Kashmir achieve their right to self-determination.

Demonstrating solidarity with the Kashmiri people, the speakers condemned the situation in occupied Kashmir, describing it as the world’s largest prison. They pointed out that India was committing genocide and war crimes, with over one million Indian troops perpetrating severe atrocities in the occupied territory. The speakers called on newly elected British MPs to exert pressure on India to address and resolve the Kashmir dispute.
